St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Scranton, Pennsylvania

Saturday, March 12, 2011. It Kicks Off at Noon. Scranton, Pennsylvania’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade features as many as 12,000 participants (and growing) five days before New York City’s 250th St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, which is Thursday, March 17th at 11:00 am. Make a week of it and take in both!

U.S. Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, and U.S. Vice President, Joe Biden both being Scranton natives, along with U.S. Senator Bob Casey, and cast members of The Office serve to make this a particularly festive affair.

Bagpipes, Marching Bands, highschool, and string bands can be enjoyed along with Northeast PA’s (NEPA) love affair with fire trucks, and EMS equipment of all shapes, sizes, and vintage. Featured guest include : The Greater Scranton Black Diamond Pipe Band, Courtney Thomas, Miss Pennsylvannia 2010, and over 40 bands, and musical groups.

Pubs, Taverns, Saloons, and Bars begin serving at 9:00 am so make sure you take precautions if you plan to sample the citywide watering holes.
